Château Lafite Rothschild adopts the Prooftag system

In an effort to prevent counterfeiting of arguably the worlds most famous and expensive wine, Château Lafite Rothschild have announced a new Prooftag system that will be introduced on vintages as early as 2009.

The 2nd label Carruades de Lafite  will carry the tags from the 2010 vintage. Older vintages that are released from the Château after 2012 will also include the tags.

This has been the most extensive program undertaken by a Bordeaux first growth. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before we see the first counterfeit tags on the market!
